Studium Generale: Miranda Ntirandekura Aerts – Psychische kwetsbaarheid en normaliteit

“Is psychische kwetsbaarheid een zwakte?” Labiel, gek, zwak, hysterisch, abnormaal… woorden die nog steeds geassocieerd worden met een consult bij een psycholoog. Het taboe en stigma omtrent psychische problemen blijft groot, want we willen met zijn allen zo graag normaal zijn. Maar zorgt die drang naar normaliteit, het willen voldoen aan de norm en maatschappelijke verwachtingen er niet voor dat we vast komen te zitten in meer (prestatie)druk, angsten, eenzaamheid en bijhorende labels? En hoe is het gesteld met het mentaal welzijn van doelgroepen die automatisch als ‘anders’ en ‘vreemdeling’ bestempeld worden in een maatschappij met een dominant wit narratief? Psychisch welzijn gaat ten slotte niet alleen over jouw welzijn of dat van mij. Het gaat over ons collectief welzijn; als kind van, ouder van, actief lid van een maatschappij en deel van de wereldbevolking. Kwita ku buzima, Maak (mentaal) welzijn een prioriteit Miranda Ntirandekura Aerts (1984), werd geboren in Rwanda en op vijfjarige leeftijd geadopteerd in een Vlaams gezin. Ze studeerde Toegepaste Psychologie en Integratieve psychotherapie, alvorens ze als werkstudent een Master Klinische Psychologie behaalde aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Na jaren werkervaring in verschillende organisaties binnen de mentaal welzijnssector en het onderwijs richtte ze C.I.E.R. Community op, een platform waar haar passie voor zorg, interculturaliteit, educatie en onderzoek samenkomen. Als voltijds zelfstandig psycholoog verdeelt ze haar tijd tussen psychotherapeutische begeleidingen in haar praktijk en activistisch werk m.b.t. wanpraktijken binnen transnationale adoptie. Daarnaast wordt ze regelmatig door organisaties gevraagd voor het uitwerken en implementeren van lezingen, vormingen en workshops. De besproken thema’s zijn vaak een intersectie tussen mentaal welzijn, migratie en (on)recht.

"This book explores the question of what it means to be a human being through sustained and original analyses of three important philosophical topics: relativism, skepticism, and naturalism in the social sciences. Kevin Cahill’s approach involves an original employment of historical and ethnographic material that is both conceptual and empirical in order to address relevant philosophical issues. Specifically, while Cahill avoids interpretative debates, he develops an approach to philosophical critique based on Cora Diamond’s and James Conant’s work on the early Wittgenstein. This makes possible the use of a concept of culture that avoids the dogmatism that not only typifies traditional metaphysics but also frequently mars arguments from ordinary language or phenomenology. This is especially crucial for the third part of the book, which involves a cultural-historical critique of the ontology of the self in Stanley Cavell’s work on skepticism. In pursuing this strategy, the book also mounts a novel and timely defense of the interpretivist tradition in the philosophy of the social sciences. The brochure aims to raise awareness of the significant positive impact that such innovations can have on people and communities. Its goal is to inform Member States, organisations and other actors about existing good practices on social innovation, facilitating learning exchange and transnational cooperation, particularly in the context of the future European Social Fund Plus."

Webinar Jonge hulpverleners in residentiële settings: wat hebben ze nodig om de stiel te leren?

De provincie Vlaams-Brabant organiseert een Webinar (debatlunch) met als titel: "Jonge hulpverleners in residentiële settings: wat hebben ze nodig om de stiel te leren?"

Wat:Dat de kwaliteit van de hulpverleners prioritair is, staat buiten kijf. Een begeleiding in een residentiële setting goed laten verlopen, vraagt heel wat van hulpverleners, op veel verschillende terreinen. Opleidingen leiden studenten op om deze taak op te nemen en werken samen met organisaties uit de jeugdzorg via stages: ter plekke is immers de beste plaats om de stiel onder de knie te krijgen. Na de basisopleiding worden jonge hulpverleners verder gevormd door de teams waar ze in terecht komen. Wat als deze bestaan uit nog relatief onervaren jonge (enthousiaste) mensen? Krijgen ze nog de tijd om hun professionaliteit te laten rijpen? Jonge hulpverleners -alumni SW en vooral SRW- getuigen en geven een inkijk. Wat trekt hen aan in het beroep? Wat drijft hen? Wat is hun realiteit? Wat hebben ze nodig om hun werk vol te houden? Wat misten ze in hun opleiding? Na het bekijken van de reportage, gaan we in debat met onderwijsaanbieders, residentiële jeugdzorgvoorzieningen, jonge hulpverleners/studenten en het publiek.
