Emerging Early Childhood Inequality: Poverty and Future Academic Achievement

Emerging Early Childhood Inequality: Poverty and Future Academic Achievement/ Dana Vaknin, Yossi Shavit & Isaac Sasson. Taub Center, 2019

"Economic inequality in Israel is among the highest in the OECD countries, and there are also high levels of inequality in educational outcomes. In this research paper, Dana Vaknin, Professor Yossi Shavit and Dr Isaac Sasson find that children who experienced poverty from birth to age 2 went on to do less well in school exams, while the same effect was not found for children who experienced poverty between ages 3 and 5. The researchers draw conclusions about the importance of the first thousand days of a child’s life and suggest implications for public policy."
